Rev. Darrell Delaney began co-hosting ReFrameā€™s Groundwork audio program in May.

ReFrame, the media ministry for the Christian Reformed Church, recently appointed Rev. Darrell Delaney as co-host of its half-hour audio program Groundwork. Beginning in May 2021, Delaney joined Rev. Scott Hoezee on the program to unpack the richness of the Bible and apply it with insight for todayā€™s world.

Delaney also serves as the pastor of Madison Churchā€™s Square Campus in Grand Rapids, Mich.

ā€œDarrell exudes a profound love for studying and living Godā€™s Word,ā€ said Courtney Jacob, ³Ņ°ł“Ē³Ü²Ō»å·É“Ē°ł°ģā€™s producer. ā€œHeā€™s deeply gifted at applying Scripture and making connections to help us live and grow as disciples of Christ.ā€

Big Shoes to Fill

The new appointment comes after the retirement of Dave Bast, who recorded more than 450 episodes of the program. Bastā€™s long history on Groundwork meant that even before Delaney applied to be the co-host, many of the programā€™s listeners were already praying for him.

ā€œDave will be sorely missed,ā€ wrote Cherie, one of Groundworkā€™s listeners. ā€œHe has a lovely recording voice, but more than that, his insights have been invaluable to me in my own walk over the years. I will be praying for the Almighty to send just the right person your way.ā€

Groundwork began airing in 2010 as a reformatted version of ReFrameā€™s flagship program The Back to God Hour.

ā€œPeople listen because they want to know more about the Lord, they want to grow, and they want to improve in their relationship with God,ā€ said Delaney. ā€œWhen youā€™re able to discuss Scripture over the table with a couple of friends, itā€™s really powerful to break open and have fun with.ā€

Delaney is excited to bring his own perspective and interests to the program.

ā€œThere is a demographic of listeners that may not know how wonderful a program Groundwork is,ā€ he said. ā€œKeeping a pulse on popular culture and seeing Godā€™s hand working in and through it ... is one of the many things Iā€™m excited about bringing to Groundwork.ā€

Upcoming episodes of Groundwork will include discussions on 1 Corinthians, Godā€™s abiding presence, and a series on the Ten Commandments.
